SANTA CATARINA

This State received many other groupings of Polish immigrants. These were seated in several areas of the State, quite isolated some of the other ones, being practically incommunicable per decades. The first grouping arrived in 1869 in the area of Brusque. The others were seated:

	Itajaí-mirin Valley - Brusque (1869), Guabiruba (1875, 1888, 1890, 1896) Blumenau, Idaial, Rio dos Cedros, Benedito Novo (1877, 1890 and 1900)
	North Area - São Bento do Sul, Rio Negrinho, Campo Alegre (1873, 1875, 1878), Papanduva (1880), Itaiópolis (1889), Mafra, Três Canoinhas, Major Vieira, Monte Castelo (1891)
	Loud of Rio Tijucas - Nova Trento, Major Gercino (1891)
	Foz of Rio Itapocu - Corupá, Massaranduba, Guaramirim (1890)
	South Area - Cocal do Sul, Jacinto Machado, Criciúma, Órleãns, Grã-Pará (1882, 1885, 1887, 1890, 1891, 1892, 1893, 1896)
	Rio do Peixe Valley - Porto União, Irineópolis, Rio das Antas, Ipoméia, Caçador (1911,1926)
	Rio Uruguai Valley - Itá (1929)
	Loud of Rio Itajaí's Valley - Rio do Oeste (1937), Presidente Getúlio (1939)
	Midle West catarinense - Faxinal dos Guedes, Nova Erechim (1938)
	Extreme West catarinense - Descanso (1934)
	Rio Uruguai Valley - Mondaí (1940)
	Rio Itajaí Valley - Campo Redondo (1948)

Most of these Polish ones were of the Alta Silesia, Pomeranian, Galicia, Great Poland, Gdansk, Starogard, Opole, Konin, Krosno, Kalisz, Posnan, Mazóvia, Sieradz and Kujawy. The immigrants' life, unlike the one that them own they waited it was always quite difficult. However, anything if it compares to the happened in the area of the Answered. Just armed with a pistol of two pipes and two candies, Lucena's Polish (then belonging to Paraná and now to Itaiópolis-SC) they were faced with the ferocious Indians botocudos that they inhabited the area. In 17 years, 61 confronts happened with 40 deaths of immigrants. The little government, or nothing did to guide. The Indians, nothing knew about colonization and that that suffered blond people were there because it had been invited.
